Long before the mind-control, before the madness, before the obsession with hats and a girl named Alice, there was a shy, maladjusted teenager with more issues than a comic-book store.

That teenager is none other than Jervis Tetch, a troubled boy with a fondness for literature and a habit of rhyming when he's nervous, which, admittedly, is most of the time.

This shy, sweet, budding schizophrenic wants nothing more than to disappear---preferably into one of the books he's so found of---but, he supposes that having a friend would be nice too.
